How I healed myself- an introduction to Reiki

 I came to reiki because I was desperate. Two years ago my body started jerking uncontrollably. I could feel the electricity of my nervous system pulsing throughout my body, and because I would shake all night long I was not getting any sleep. The doctors diagnosed me with "severe restless limb disorder". We tried several medicines, finally finding a dopamine agonist that worked, but in the meantime I started having Reiki done with my therapist Erica.  I believe reiki saved my sanity.

Reiki therapy is based on an Eastern belief that vital energy flows through the body. You lie on the table fully dressed while the practitioner positions their hands over you based on the flow of energy they perceive. I know it sounds whack, but my experience is that it works for both people and animals.  Everything is made of energy, reiki is just an energy tune-up.  

Learning that anyone can do reiki and that I could do it by myself- I decided to learn the art of the ancient techniques, which include symbols for physical, emotional, and distance healing.  I began practicing on myself, my friends and family and my animals seeing amazing results! Setting the intention of love and light and knowing that the energy will go where the recipient needs it most helps me to feel confident in the power of reiki.

My experience as a reiki practitioner is that it is a conduit for relaxation, stress and harmony.  You get what you need.  Several studies have shown that reiki can alter the experience of physical or emotional pain.  It can help you to sleep better and feel more at ease. Quite frankly, it's magical.
